This is the August 2026 update covering new Netzero features, Powerwall

There is much more to come: new features and improvements to the app every month, and more published research based on anonymized Netzero data.
You can now discharge stored Powerwall energy to the grid, either from an automation or manually. This is useful for exporting during a high export price window, or for emptying the battery before a period of cheap or free electricity.
Add the Powerwall grid export action to an automation, or start an export by hand from the Powerwall grid export card under Automation > Configuration. Tesla offers no direct control over battery export, so Netzero uses a temporary rate plan, and the Powerwall takes a few minutes to react. The backup reserve is not changed and acts as the floor that exports stop at.

The Powerwall system reports hundreds of internal condition codes. Netzero now shows a selected set of them under Devices > Alerts and sends a notification when one appears, for example a Powerwall breaker open, a lost connection to a Powerwall, or a solar inverter that stopped reporting.
The new Powerwall System Alerts page lists every condition Netzero reports, with its firmware code, a description, and the share of systems currently reporting it.
Devices > Overview now shows, per Powerwall, the battery pack temperature range, the round-trip efficiency (the share of energy charged into the Powerwall that comes back out), and the lifetime energy charged and discharged.
On the new Intelligent Octopus Go with the 6-hour limit, which most Intelligent Octopus Go customers were moved to in late August, a smart charging slot outside 23:30-05:30 gives your home the off-peak rate only when the EV is actually drawing power. Netzero now follows the same rule: Powerwall charging starts once the EV is drawing power, rather than as soon as a slot appears on the schedule. If the car finishes early, is unplugged, or never starts, Netzero may not charge the Powerwall for some or all of the slot, and during a long slot the Powerwall may stop and start again, following the car. Powerwall firmware updates are managed and deployed by Tesla. As of early September 2026, the
26.26 series has largely replaced 26.18.3 on both Powerwall 2 and Powerwall 3. 26.26.5 is
the newest version and is just starting to roll out. For detailed tracking data, see

In July we noted the first Powerwall 2 systems requesting a battery calibration. Since then, we have been seeing more Powerwall 2 calibrations.
Netzero now sends a notification when a calibration is observed on a Powerwall 2 or Powerwall 3. This is a routine Tesla maintenance cycle and no action is needed; the notification explains why the Powerwall may unexpectedly charge or discharge.
